The Parkdale Villager changed its look and now every week it comes with a featured article that showcases the most important news on Parkdale on any given week.
I designed each one with a concept related to the article to make it stand out from the general look of the newspaper. I made every layout unique, eye catching and colorful so it would grab the attention of the readers of the paper, who are not expecting this type of layout on a weekly newspaper.

BIDDING ADIEU TO THE HOUSE OF YOUR DREAMS
Investigation by Chris Simon, Photos by Steve Somerville
For this article I wanted to create an eye catching look that didn't suggest real-estate feature but something more modern, like a magazine article with tips, do's and don'ts. Usually Real estate stories are not eye-catching on their approach that's why we wanted to get our readers to get interested through the use of colour, icons and typography.
The editorial team requested the use of sidebars to insert do's and don't on the real estate market, to make these creatively I used the idea of speech bubbles throughout the layout, they help to balance all the editorial content and invite the reader to get interested on the article.
A REALITY CHECK ON MILLENIALS LOOKING TO BUY A HOME ON THE GTA
Investigation by Joanna Lavoie. Photos By Benjamin Priebe
For this article I wanted to create a contemporary look since this article is talking about millenials, I wanted to design a colorful eye-catching sidebar with colours and an emphasis in the numbers making it look easy to understand at glance.
