Research Books For Children - Branding Proposal
Client: Research Books for Children Bootcamp
Sector: Academic Research
Role: Designer/Researcher
Platform: Twitter
Tools: Illustrator
Overview
Over the course of the 2022 Winter Semester, BI students Alan, Marcia and Leigh-Ann have been working towards this Research Books for Kids Bootcamp. The project started when our supervisor, Professor Grimes, was interested in investigating children’s books as a means for knowledge mobilization, particularly for her area of research in children’s media and games.
This project needs a friendly, professional and minimalistic branding that will invite academics to participate in the bootcamp.  The communication strategy should also be inviting, professional but also playful.
Solution Overview
The Branding proposed is inspired by the colours of the original presentation of our findings. The theme is inspired by apples which are related to education, knowledge an children's media.
Communications Strategy
-Our event and event registration form will be promoted through Twitter in the months of May and June. We will use twitter because it has a strong academic community and a strong book community.

- We will promote our invited authors, illustrators, organisations and publishing houses throughout the months of May - July in weekly Twitter posts.
- For our final invitees we will send them personalised emails to keep them updated on the dates, times and activities  of the bootcamp. We will send one a month before the event, and one a week before, so as to not overwhelm them with information.
- We will share insights about our research in the form of  graphical Twitter posts to get people interested in joining our bootcamp.
- We will use our own hashtag to promote the project and keep people interested in our research, and example could be #ResearchBooks4Kids which isn’t being used on twitter at the moment.
- At the beginning of the bootcamp we will share some bootcamp goodies such as a tote bag and some stationery so invitees can take notes during their bootcamp process and can take it home to remember their experiences and learnt lessons.
- During the bootcamp we will be sharing day by day photos of activities.
- At the end of the bootcamp, we can give each participant a certificate and maybe a badge or a pin as a thanks.
- After the bootcamp we will share final results of our invitees, some testimonials about the work they have produced and some final thoughts about the importance of our research work.
